Digitalism (LIVE)
23:30 - 00:30
Germany’s Digitalism are mashing garage band attitude with pumping electro music while in cahoots with the stylish French dance label Kitsuné. Their loose heavily distorted rough grooves and blankly delivered lyrics owe as much to Joy Division as they do to Daft Punk. For the past years, they have been the go-to men for remixes, having reworked the Klaxons, Dave Gahan, Tiga and Daft Punk. Their debut album ‘Idealism’ was one of 2007’s best albums and this year they finally released the long-awaited follow-up called ‘I Love You, Dude’.
Interview
- What are you doing at I Love Techno this year?
We'll be back to play live!! We had a year or two off to recover from previous ones. It's always so intense. Gonna drop some techno.
- Who else on the Line-Up are you lookin forward to seeing?
Looking forward to see our frends again for a wintery and steamy reunion, who are spread troughout the Line-Up; Evryone should def. go and watch Gesaffelstein though, he's gonna show you all hw to dress smart for 909 sounds.
- What is your favourite techno track?
Daft Punk - Rollin & Scratchin' Live 1997
- Do you sometimes just want to be someone who is standing in the audience partying instead of playing on stage?
We always tend to join the audience at I Love Techno and hang out!!
That's around oru show though.
- What do you love about the I Love Techno festival? / How does it compare to other festivals?
It's in one of our favourite cities, only one night, and packed with tens of thousands of people with the hugest electronic and techno line-up anyone who's been ther ebfore will be talking about it for ages. You step inside and can not believe your eyes. Only one night, but you probably need more towels than during a week without workout in the gym.
- Best I Love Techno memory?
The first timer ever we came and played. We just started playing live and did not know what to expect at ILT... We were blasted away.
- What are your big tracks at the moment?
Digitalism - Circles (Digitalism - Eric Prydz remixes)
Surkin - Ultra light
Dj Medhi - Signature (Thomas Bangalter remix)
Amazone Boys - Amazone bass (Bikini bitch rework)
Noir & Haze - Around (Solomun remix)
Noob - Spell
Harvard Bass+ Bart B More - The Dark One
- What else have you got going one? (Releases etc)
Our new single "Circles" is knocking on the doors this month, with great remixes including Eric Prydz, ourselves and some really talented guys... You should watch out for that one!!
- What is techno for you?
Techno might be the antipole tot pop- or radio music: It"s got a very strict formula, you have to understand it first before you'll like it. Back then as kids listening to the radio, it took us a little while to understand what it is really about, because the reason for its excistence is a completely different one than anything else.
